GeoMAC Wildland Fire Support
The Geospatial Multi-agency
Coordination Group (GeoMAC) is an
Internet-based mapping tool originally
designed for fire managers to access
online maps of current fire locations and
perimeters in the conterminous 48 states
and Alaska. Using a standard web browser,
fire personnel can download this
information to pinpoint the affected

MODIS Web Fire Mapper
View an interactive map incorporating active fire detection point data from MODIS with physical features and the University of Maryland's continental U.S. land cover product. You can display for fire detections in a given date range, and query a particular detection for more information (time, brightness temp, latitude/logitude).

NOAA's Fire Weather Information Center is a roundup of various NOAA Web sites and information on the latest fire weather forecasts, including satellite images and graphics.

Wildland Fire Assessment System
The Wildland Fire
Assessment System (WFAS) is an
internet-based information system.
providing a national view of weather and
fire potential, including national fire
danger and weather maps and satellite-
derived "Greenness" maps. WFAS is managed
by the National Interagency Fire Center
(NIFC, Boise, ID).

Operationally Significant Event Imagery
(NOAA-OSEI)
OSEI fire
products include multichannel color
composite imagery and single-channel
grayscale imagery of wildfire and
controlled burn events. Products in this
event group show smoke hotspots or both
from the fires.

Weather, Smoke, and Fire
Daily AVHRR Imagery
The US Forest Service (Region 4) provides
daily AVHRR
imagery that has been enhanced to see
weather, smoke and Fire. In one product,
Band 3 (infrared) is shown in red tones
to enhance the ability to pick up fires.
Hot objects such as fires will show up as
white and cool areas will be very dark.
In another product, Band 1 (in the
visible red part of the spectrum) is
shown in gray tones. This band is useful
in looking at weather patterns and for
viewing smoke.

Southwest Area Wildland Fire Operation
The Southwest Area Wildland Fire Operation's website is an interagency website maintained by the Southwest Coordination Center in Albuquerque, NM. It is designed to provide general fire information for the public and to serve as a source of fire intelligence for the wildland fire community.
