National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
Since 1970 the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) has required that the public be informed about and given opportunities to comment on Federal projects or actions that have an impact on the environment. There is another description of how this process works in a section of the Rangelands West website.
