Recreation Value

Property is valued for it recreation opportunities by many people. To determine the importance for recreation of each polygon cell for the FCS-1 Model, researchers used USGS and GAP maps to calculate Euclidean distance grids and visibility surface grids for the following features of interest for recreation.

  • Campgrounds
  • Hiking trails
  • Roads
  • Picnic areas
  • Lakes
  • Historical sites
  • Visitor centers
  • National Visitor Use Monitoring Results Table
  • Hunting areas
